Line modernisation from Domažlice to state border with Germany has its designers

Správa železnic selected the designers for the modernisation of the line section between Domažlice and the state border with Germany. The project documentation will be prepared by the companies VECTORAMA and SUDOP Praha, which submitted a bid of CZK 43,789,000. The actual construction work is planned for the years 2027 to 2030.

The winners of the tender will prepare the project documentation for the approval of the entire project according to the new Building Act.

Ten kilometres of the line between Domažlice and the state border with Germany will undergo modernisation, the speed of trains will be up to 115 km/h. The most significant change awaits the Babylon stop, which will gain barrier-free access and raised platforms enabling comfortable boarding on the train. At Česká Kubice station, the length of the tracks for the operation of freight trains up to 740 metres long will be extended. All four level crossings in this section will get modern safety equipment.    

The modernisation project of the line from Plzeň to Domažlice and to the state border with Germany includes both the construction of a completely new double-track connection from the regional capital to Stod and the modernisation of the existing section from Plzeň via Nýřany to Chotěšov. In the subsequent part to Domažlice, several new, also double-track sections, will be built, the maximum line speed will be 200 km/h. The Domažlice station itself will also undergo a complete reconstruction. The first work to start next year should be on the two structures starting in the regional capital.

The project preparation of the set of constructions Modernisation of the line Plzeň – Domažlice – state border Federal Republic of Germany is co-financed by the EU Fund from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The EU support rate is 85 % of the eligible costs, with a maximum subsidy of EUR 8,681,597, i.e. approximately CZK 221.2 million. National funding is provided by Státní fond dopravní infrastruktury (State Fund for Transport Infrastructure).
