New plates will improve identification of all level crossings
Správa železnic has started installing new reflective plates on level crossings to increase traffic safety. In the near future it will equip all level crossings on its network with them. The labels include the number of the specific level crossing and highlighted emergency contact number 112. In a crisis, it will primarily help drivers to identify the scene of the incident and deal with its consequences. The current installation was preceded by a pilot operation at more than two dozen crossings, after its evaluation, the design of the labels was modified.
Identification labels with the number of the level crossing shall be placed on the back of signal light boxes or warning crosses. Based on the evaluation of the pilot project, the colour, dimension and size of the numbers on the labels have been adjusted. The new font is black on a white reflective background.
Správa železnic has now ordered a total of 27,800 labels and has started installing them on all 7,500 level crossings under its administration. The price for the production amounted to less than one million crowns.
The markings serve, among other things, to quickly identify the location, for example, in cases where a car gets trapped at a level crossing and the driver needs to report the whole incident to the emergency call line. This is why the numbered crossing marking is complemented by a label with a pictogram of a telephone and the 112 number (SOS 112). This information is given in Czech and English.Soubory ke stažení
