Travelling at the railway stations in Chrastava and Hrádek nad Nisou will be more comfortable

Two busy railway stations on the line from Liberec to Zittau in Saxony will be completely reconstructed this year. Správa železnic selected the company Skanska as the contractor for the constructions in Chrastava and Hrádek nad Nisou, which submitted a total bid of CZK 1,238,755,536. The stations will undergo a complete reconstruction, including the station buildings, and the layout of the platforms will change. Work on both sites is scheduled to start in September and be completed in November next year.

The most visible change will be the relocation of platforms at both stations, which will increase passengers' safety and comfort. The stations will get new underpasses and barrier-free access will be ensured by lifts.

The project also includes the renovation of both station buildings. Their original appearance will be preserved, and thanks to the adaptation of the interior spaces, a new waiting room with sanitary facilities will be built in Chrastava. The interiors in Hrádek nad Nisou will be completely modernised, resulting in a spacious waiting room and commercial areas.

Furthermore, the signalling equipment will be reconstructed on the entire section from Liberec to the state border with Poland, which is 22 kilometres long. The time required for train crossing will be reduced, while at the same time the line speed will be increased at several places. Train operation will be controlled from the new regional traffic control centre in Liberec.

The construction works will last 14 months, a continuous closure on the line from Liberec to Hrádek nad Nisou is planned from June to November next year.
