Establishment of Správa železnic

Pursuant to Act No. 77/2002 Coll. on the transformation of České dráhy (Czech Railways), state organization, the state organization České dráhy ceased to exist without liquidation as of 31 December 2002. As of 1 January 2003, two successor organizations were established: České dráhy, a.s. (ČD) and Správa železnic, státní organizace (railway infrastructure manager – Správa železnic).

Správa železnic is registered in the Commercial Registry with the Municipal Court in Prague, Section A, File No. 48384, identification number IČ 70 99 42 34, tax identification number DIČ CZ70994234.

  • It is the manager of state-owned assets that mostly involve the railway infrastructure.
  • It fulfils the role of the owner of the railway infrastructure, ensures its operation, operability, modernization and development.
  • It allocates railway infrastructure capacity and since 1 July 2008 it has been the operator of the nation-wide and regional railway infrastructure owned by the state.
